With all the texting issues, I thought to see if my Apple Watch could text over Visible cellular while my iPhone was turned off. I have the watch on my Visible plan.
iMessage worked fine, but not to Androids over cellular.
Should this work on Visible?

I found this at https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT205547
โTo receive SMS, MMS or push notifications from third-party apps on your GPS + Cellular Apple Watch, your paired iPhone must be turned on and connected to a Wi-Fi or mobile data network, but it doesn't need to be nearby. You also need to be signed in to iMessage on your iPhone to use Messages on your watch.โ

Why does apple seem to say otherwise?

The Apple Watch, even cellular, does not have the ability to process cellular text messages. The Apple Watch can process iMessages on its own. An iPhone must be used to forward cellular text messages to the Watch. The iPhone does not need to be nearby, just on the Internet so that it can forward the received text message to the watch. Hope this helps.
