Can I use a mobile hotspot only, no phone

I need to connect my home thermostat & security cameras to the internet when I am out of town. I want to use Visible basic plan with a mobile hotspot at the house, no phone involved. Is this possible? What device will work with Visible in this way?

Not sure if it is possible but it does go against Visible's terms of service to use a SIM card in something other than a smartphone.
