OK, 11 hours later, and six of those on Visible help chat, and still no service. Port me out baby----------By the way the chat protocol, pure rubbish.

Well, with hat in hand I'm compelled to eat some crow. Not only did I rant prematurely,  the solution that was conveyed by support was indeed the answer, and I failed to implement it properly. The service, both in tower and WiFi is working perfectly. Apologies to the community for the negative post. Eighty year old's and technology, a dicey combination.
