Identity verification with login.gov

Visible provides a great service, IMO.

I was trying to connect to my SSA account via login.gov.

Login.gov was unable to use my phone number to verify my identity.

I contacted CS and they stated that they do perform this service, because Visible is a prepaid service.

I've been told T-mobile prepaid does verify identities for their customers.

Is this reason just cost?

Not everyone has postpaid.

If you got a new number when you joined that could be an issue. I had this issue when I joined Visible 4 years ago my number couldn't be verified at Amazon and I think Capital One for my credit card I had, it took a quite a while, like months, before it would let me add it to both. I think this can also happen with a ported in number as well. You might want to try and contact customer support at SSA and see if they can fix this issue. Customer service at Visible is not all that knowledgeable, I consider them downright incompetent due to their lack of training.

Visible customer service helped me through chat. It took 3 separate chat sessions for them to reprovision my phone 3 times to finally get it to receive short code text messages! The way to confirm that you're getting text messages or verification codes from the vendor is to text them. You can google the unique short codes for specific vendor (for example Venmo - 86753). Send a text message such as START or HELP to the vendor. If you get an automated text reply, then you are connected and good to receive verification codes and texts from the vendor. If you don't get a reply from your text, then you're not connected. Work with a Visible chat agent. First, they had me do the usual stuff like reseating my physical sim card and switching airplane mode on/off. That didn't work. So insist that they reprovision your phone. It'll work!
