Iphone iMessage says "waiting for activation" on my phone number

When I sent texts to other people, they show up from my icloud address, not my normal phone number. I go into Settings>Messages>iMessage>Send & Receive and 2 email addresses are checked, but there is a spinning circle by my phone number and the screen says "waiting for activation". It's been over 24 hours since I changed over and have started and re-started the phone many times. Any ideas on how long "activation" of iMessages should take with my phone number?

Did you ever get this figured out? Mine all of the sudden started doing it after it working fine for around 5 hours today.

Were you ever able to get this fixed or figure out anything? My phone is currently doing this after switching from Verizon today and being fine for 6 hours.

This is happening to me too and it's SO FRUSTRATING. Two of my friends reported me as spam because my texts are coming from my email instead of my phone number! I keep getting an "iMessage activation failed" message 😞
