Lost contacts when starting service

I just switched to visible from verizon and most of my contacts disappeared. I’m assuming it has something to do the the eSIM? Is there a way I can get them back?

Contacts should have been saved on your device and should have nothing to do with the SIM.

Not sure what phone you have, if Android got to settings, app, find the contacts app, tap on force stop, then got to storage and cache and clear both cache and storage. Then open the contacts app and see if your contacts reload. If you have an iPhone sorry, I am not sure what the procedure would be.

I’ve heard both that sometimes they are stored on the sim and that they aren’t, it’s an iPhone and I had iCloud backups from the day before I switched but only a small percentage of them were either saved on that backup or remained when I switched. I’ve been talking with Apple trying to find a solution but so far they don’t know why they wouldn’t have saved and the only thing I can think of is it has to do something with the physical sim from Verizon being deactivated and the eSIM from visible being activated

I am unsure how iPhone stores them but on Android they are stored in an internal file. I'm not all that tech savvy so I am unaware that contacts are stored on a SIM. I did do a quick search and found an article, link below, and not sure if you can still pull the contacts from a SIM card that has been deactivated. You could try to reinsert the card and see if that is possible.
