New Customer, Purchase New Phone, Keep Phone Number

I am currently a Verizon customer.  I would like to switch to Visible and also purchase a new phone and trade in my current iPhone and also keep my current phone number.  I have looked all over the Visible website but I can't figure out how to do this.  I see instructions for how to join Visible if I want to bring my own device.  But I don't want to bring my own device.  I want to do the following:

  • Switch to Visible
  • Purchase a new phone from Visible
  • Trade in my old iPhone
  • Keep my phone number

Is this possible?  Is there a certain order to how I need to do things?  It is frustrating that I can't find clear instructions on the Visible website for this.  I would think this is a very normal process for new customers.  Thanks in advance.

This is simply a customer to customer forum with no Visible employee interaction, but...

  • First, confirm your number is your mobile number is eligible for transfer to Visible using the Portability Checker at https://www.visible.com/switch-to-visible
  • Then ensure you have the porting information from Verizon. That varies by type of account but the requirements are listed at: https://www.visible.com/help/carrier-list#V under V.
  • You may also want to secure somebody's referral code to save a few extra $$ - $20. They can be found under a user's profile or posting history or just ask - directly posting them here is frowned upon.. but random ones can be found in the Savings Spot forum.
  • Next start by choosing the phone where you'll see an option to trade-in. On continuing you'll be prompted whether a an existing member or new member. Choose new.
  • Once in your shopping cart, you'll be able to choose a plan and initiate a preliminary trade in evaluation (it's pending until the phone is actually received and physically evaluated).
  • On checkout you'll be asked to create your account and during that process will be able to specify the port in information.
  • On receipt of the phone activate it and return the old phone for an accurate trade value.

Good luck.

P.S. Read all terms and conditions carefully before supplying any payment information and finalizing the order.

Thanks so much!  I appreciate the response.  Maybe I am overthinking it and maybe the entire process will be simple.  I just want to make sure it works properly before I get in the middle of it and find out I did something wrong.  Thanks!

Also, be advised the port isn't completed until you receive and activate the new phone - at that time the line is typically automatically canceled on Verizon.

Oh ok.  Will my old phone still work until I receive and activate the new phone?
