Hello,
I am debating switching my daughter's phone to visible from Google Fi. She usus a lot of data and does a bit of hotspot. I seen visible plus has a plan that might be perfect for her (lots of data and wifi tethering).
With Google Fi her speeds get slowed to pretty much unuseable after 50gb. Also her tethering counts towards her data cap.
I see the catch with visible plus is hotspot speeds are limited to 10mpbs (which is suitable for her needs).
But I am wondering if there are any hidden data caps I should know about before switching?
Is the unlimited truly unlimited. Is there a different plan I could choose like pro plus?
If visible works well I would like to eventually like to switch my whole family after our phones are paid off.

No hidden data caps but there has been mention by some on Visible's Reddit page being slowed to 1.5Mbps after using 450GB of data. Data is truly unlimited on data even on hotspot.
The plan you choose is up to you. Base plan there is no priority or premium data, Verizon post paid would have more priority and hotspot is 5Mbps, the plus plan is unlimited priority/premium data and 10Mbps hotspot, the Pro is also priority/premium data with 15Mbps hotspot. There are other differences in the plans and you would have to look at what the differences are and choose which is better.
If it matters I am on the Plus plan in a 4G LTE only area, I am on that plan because of congestion on the towers in my area and needed priority data to get usable speeds on the phone, the base plan I was on speeds were really bad because of the traffic on the towers here.

Thanks, you've made up my mind. Also I have another quick question. How does the insurance work if I was to buy a new phone? So on Google Fi when I file an insurance claim I have to pay for a new phone out right and once they receive the broken phone they will refund me my purchase. Is this the same with visible? It sucks having to have a thousand dollars on hold for 10 days.
Anyways thank you for your insight. I'm tempted to pay off mine and my wife's phones and switch the whole family to visible.

Sorry, I have no answers about insurance, I believe it can only be added when you buy a new phone from Visible, but as far as how the insurance is handled you would have to maybe send a message to the company that insures the devices for Visible. I think it is Apple care for iPhone's and Assurance that handles Android phones, but not completely sure.
Couple other things to point out about Visible, first is that they handle customer service completely though chat or by message them on one of their social media platforms. They do not have a phone number to call. The other thing is that Visible is single line accounts so each phone needs a separate account/email address, there is no family plan. They do have a new discount called Inner Circle where you can manage all accounts that are invited into the circle and get a discount of $5 per account that is on Visible+ or Pro plans. You can read about that here: https://www.visible.com/help/inner-circle
If you decide to join don't forget to grab a referral code from the savings section for you first line then use the referral from that account you made for the other and save $20 for each line on the second month.

This maybe late here but maybe it will help others. They claim its unlimited and not capped. But recently I noticed issues such as slowdowns, disconnects, and even random phone reboots. Support use to be good in 2023. I am still on the plan called Visible. Now for some reason they call my plan a legacy plan. I contacted support whome said "It was unlimited but based on your plan you will experience slow internet connection and you will deprioritize by our system once you consumed more than 50GB of data". When I informed them I was not supposed to be throttled, they attempted to tell me "We don't throttling the dats service. It just you will experience slow internet connection since you used more that 50GB.". When i pushed the issue more I was told "The old Visible base plan does not have a data cap, but all data is deprioritized and can be slowed down during times of network congestion. It is not "throttled" in the traditional sense of hitting a hard limit, but speeds will decrease when the network is busy, especially compared to plans with premium data.".
So they may not say they throttle your data, but after 50 GB it gets slowed down apparently. This also seems to be permanent as well. When the month resets this "slow down" does not seem to lift.
I use to use Walmart's plan that was called "Truly Unlimited" which switched carriers a few times. Verizon apparently became the carrier and they did the same thing hence why I switched to here. I was assured that they do not do that here, but apparently they do.
