I think "Visual" voicemail means different things to some people. I am curious about the "transcription" feature, which was very handy on my previous iPhone, however does not appear to 'happen' on my Samsung Galaxy S24. I believe I am seeing what some would call "visual voicemail" in that I can see the message time, order, contact, etc., but there is no actual transcription of the message. I still have to hit play and listen to each. It's nice, but it's not the same as transcribed messages to read vs listen. Is this voicemail transcription actually working for some people on Android (better yet, Samsung Galaxy S24), and how did you enable this feature, and what app are you using? I have tried the native Samsung "Phone" app, as well as the Google "Phone" app, and both will show me my voicemails, but neither will show me a transcription. I'm not sure who provides this service... is it the phone? the service provider? or the App?

I have had Motorola and now a Samsung S24. The Motorola had visual voicemail turned on but you never got a transcribed version, it was just a list of VM you could play in any order. It was contained in the phone app. The S24 I have is factory unlocked and it has a separate VM app, it is not built into either the Samsung or the Google phone app.
Try looking into Google Voice app, that may be what you are looking for. There are other apps that do this also with different feature. Try Google.
There is a live transcribe feature on Samsung phone but you need turn it on and actually play the message and it will transcribe the message for you but guessing that is not what you want.

Thanks, it always feels good to know I'm not just missing something obvious. I ended up setting up Google Voice and doing the 'conditional forward' on my line to my Google Voice number. I set Google Voice to 'do not disturb' in the app and now the calls I don't pick up or miss go straight to voicemail on Google Voice, which I can then read as perfectly transcribed text! To enable "conditional forwarding" on Verizon/visible you dial *71[10-dig-num]
