issue with app during activation

I am in the process of activating service. have received confirmation email. next step says to go in the app and download the esim. however, every time i open the app it says There’s been an issue. we’re having trouble with your request right now but we’ll continue working on it and shoot you an email once your eSim is ready to download.
What is the issue? How can i resolve this if i’ve received an email with esim download instructions telling me to open the app but the app isn’t opening?
