I don't seem to understand the process. I read that I need to have the phone unlocked in order to sign up for this service. I contacted AT&T and determined I need a different sim card to unlock the phone.
What do I need to do to bring my phone and open a new account?

You'll want to verify it's compatible with Visible. If you use an iPhone 8 and newer iOS device, you should be fine, but otherwise just find the IMEI code inside your phone's settings menu then enter it here (Android/ older iPhones).
If your device works on Visible, from that same page you can choose between the 2 unlimited call/txt/data plans, enter any promo code,* provide the personal and payment info to build your account, and process your order. Visible will keep you posted on your order via email and send you a physical SIM if you order it.
If you plan to keep your phone number, make the switch while your ATT account is open, make note of your account number there and request your Port-out PIN from them. You can start your service with your number using that initial setup process or you can set up call forwarding to the new number Visible assigns and switch it by chatting with support once you're sold on the service (while old service agreement is still active).
