Sorry for my delayed response! Thank you for confirming Wi-Fi in Ecuador
means the same thing there as it does here! It's still surprising to me
WhatApp doesn't even require your phone to have cell service or a sim in

I understand my visible SIM has no service in Ecuador, and I prefer not
to purchase a local or eSIM unless I have to. If I read you correctly, I
can use WhatsApp in Ecuador if I'm "connected to Wi-Fi", but how do I do
that? Do I have to purchase some...
If I understand you correctly, I'll be able to use my current phone with
WhatsApp for calling and texting both from the US to Ecuador or vice
