Cannot set up my new phone with visible

We have been trying to get our new phone carrier to move from Lively to Visible. e-SIM didn't work. New SIM card has arrived and we really need a real person to help us make it work.

quick question

If I selected to "mail SIM card".. then why is visible asking to port my number right now? don't we have to wait till I get the sim card? otherwise I'll lose access to my other phone while waiting for the new sim card in the mail..
