Buying new iPhone and switching to Visible. Which should I do first?

I'm planning to buy a new iPhone 15, and switch my carrier from Verizon to Visible. My current phone is an iPhone 8. Should I port my iPhone 8 from Verizon to Visible first, and then buy the new iPhone 15? Or in the reverse order? I don't know if the order makes any difference. I'm planning to buy the iPhone from Apple (not from Visible), and get a small trade in amount for the old phone.

Could you elaborate a bit? So buy phone while still on Verizon and transfer all data, then port current number to Visibke with eSim?
