I have service on a pixel 4xl with a physical sim, I got a pixel 7a that the system said was compatible and seemed to demand an esim be used. I did this and it then failed saying that the phone was locked to Verizon. Since that means I can't use that phone, I went back to my Pixel4xl, now it will only work on wifi no text/call/data, sim status reads Visible, temporarily unavailable. Useless app only wants to continue the setup for the phone I can't use, and chat on there can't understand my issue. Is my Sim now garbage? How do I get past this?

Was the Pixel 4xl on Visible? If so, did you happen to have line lock enabled? Wouldn't be surprised if line lock is available on any carrier though.
"Line Lock is a security feature offered by Visible to protect your phone number from unauthorized port-outs and SIM swaps. When Line Lock is enabled, it restricts porting your number to another carrier and making SIM changes. To make these changes, you need to toggle Line Lock to Unlocked, which may take up to 30 minutes to take effect. You can unlock it temporarily or set a date range for unlocking."
If locked, try unlocking however when prompted to verify via SMS verify another way (email?) since you have no text/call/data. Wait 30 minutes and try again.
You may need to contact customer care at that point if unsuccessful.
