How to determine eSIM use

What are the stipulations for using an eSIM? Following some advice found in this forum. I used the mobile app on my Pixel 4XL to sign up, but registration is wanting to send me the activation sim kit. 

I wanted to just activate the eSIM capabilities of my device. Why isn't this an option? What would be the possible reasons I can't use eSIM on my Pixel 4XL?

Hey there! Currently, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and later iPhone models are eSIM enabled and compatible with Visible. eSIM is only available for compatible iPhones at the moment. We’ll be adding Android devices to this list, so stay tuned for updates on our website and social media pages.
