Is an eSIM plan activated immediately after purchase?

My ATT prepaid lasts until next month. I was thinking of ordering a Visible eSIM plan now and then activating closer to the expiry date of my ATT plan. However, as I am going through the checkout process in the Visible app it seems to me like the eSIM plan becomes activated as soon as the process is completed. Is this the case? Or can I complete the process and activate later with the eSIM? I just don't want to pay for two phone plans at the same time. Thanks!

From what I’ve been experiencing, it does activate after you order it and set it up (if you can set it up). Visible has been having issues activating eSIM, and depending on the model of your phone it can take 30 minutes, a week, or a month to get service. Depends on how lucky you are.
