4G/LTE - 5G SIM card

Trying to get my grandson into Visible using an older iPhone 6S, which is 4G /LTE and compatible. Since the deal ends in a couple of days, if I get him a 5G capable phone later in the year, do we need to order a new SIM card, or can the SIM card be transfer to the new phone? If we order the SIM card

The iPhone 6S, if it passes the IMEI compatibility checker to get a SIM card, is not new enough to get the proper iOS update to download the app which is needed to activate the SIM card. I looked up the requirement for the operating system and it requires iOS 16.6 or later. 

SIM cards can be moved freely between devices provided they are unlocked, Verizon locked may or may not work I am not sure. I have moved my card between 2 phones with no issue.

hones only use eSims.  It will depend on what phone you get.  No worries as upgrading from a physical to esim is very easy.
