I just today went on this site here to have a SIM card sent to me and then I would start service when I initiate the SIM card in my phone, but the site right away started asking me for my porting information. Is this normal or did I do something wrong. I selected that I didn't to start my service till I get the SIM card. Did that selection not take? It seems that it didn't if the site is asking me for porting information from my current carrier. I don't want to start service till I get the SIM card.

I am not familiar with porting but from what I have read this is normal. Your port won't take affect until after you have activated the SIM, you would get a temporary number for my understanding and once activated you would complete the port after. Your service won't begin until you have activated, the day you activate starts your billing cycle. DO NOT cancel your current service until after the port is successful, actually the port will cancel the service for you.
