No group texts after switching

I switched my wife and I to Visble from Verizon.  It 

 

I kept my old phone (Samsung Galaxy). I can make phone calls and use mobile data. However I can not receive some texts in group messages. At first the problem seemed to be an RCS error. It could have something to do with settings from Verizon. 

 

What makes it more confusing is thar for my wife to switch I  needed to buy a compatible phone (hers was on its last legs anyway). I bought a Moto from. Lo and behold exactly same problem.  She actually gets a different text error message if she sends a group text. She gets "message not sent invalid destination address". But she can send mass texts. If I text our family group chat, she doesn't receive my messages but she receives our family members responses.

 

This is so confusing and frustrating.  We both use group texts at work, so not being able to do so will cause major problems.
