Here's the issue, I get nothing but spam text messages all throughout the day. Not from phone numbers, but instead from email addresses. It's always outlook or hotmail email addresses just sending me mountains of spam at all times during the day, and my messages app is unequipped to handle it.
Why is this possible? Well over a decade ago verizon created a email to SMS bridge. You can send anyone on Verizon a text message from email by emailing <their phone number here>@vtext.com. And spammers are abusing the heck out of this.
I say there needs to be some way for us to disable this entirely to our numbers, or just get rid of the service altogether. I see no value in this service and it's being *really* abused.
